Of those final three Lehner was the only good option. But makes sense to not going after him. But him on that 1 year deal could of been nice. Talbot and Smith both suck. So nice dodge on that one.

keep an eye on the Capitals Cap situation. Both Backstrom and Holtby are UFAs after this upcoming season.

Backstrom is currently underpaid at 6.7mil/year. He will likely demand I nice pay bump to make up for lost time/pay. Kuzy makes 7.8mil/year and disappeared last year.

With the Goalie market, Holtby can and likely will demand top $$$. His numbers are better than bob (especially in the playoff) and he has a cup. Holtby did file for arbitration in previous contract talks so that leads me to believe he wants his worth.

I dont see how the caps afford both. I honestly think they will let Holtby go unless he takes a hometown discount. Capitals have some outstanding prospects in the pipeline.

Could columbus offer holtby big money next offseason? If this season is shaky at all for Korpi and Elvis, I could totally see it.

Anders Nillson 2.6 over 2 years.
May not just be a back up.

For comparative purposes I would have also included the LOSING Stanley cup final goalies.

Good suggestion. I thought the list of winners pretty well illustrated the value of a quality backstop.

I didn't mention Fleury because he was the back up even though he did see significant time, but didn't play in the Cup final at all.

Interesting post, but Holtby does have some injury problems, and term might be a big issue, he's going to want a big time $$$ and term contract. Finally, if the CBJ has a bad year, how interested is he going to be in going to cbus?

I blame all the Vezina trophies, and nominations. Apparently those mean you are worth good money.

I highly recommend Canucks G Jacob Markstrom. He played very well last year and found consistency with his game. 1 year left and he is a ufa. I would also recommend Sven Baertschi and Brandon Sutter. Juolevi would be a sweetener. It replaces the departed ufa's and doesn't break the bank. They are all hungry. Perhaps Werenski goes the other way.
